In particulare

  • N outputs
  • N Inputs

UI wise:
Right side of the inventory should be a grid of all currently craftable items, the count should be the craftable ammount, The mouseover should be the recipe (also displaying if it would take from a other open inventory from where it will take ht items)

The justification is that shaped recipes are hard to remember, i can't remember them even though I've developed the damn thing. And any shaped recipe will invairintly drag a "but in minecraft" behind it.

I think the closest analogy for this crafting system may be factoria, albeit with much less middle products (the main purpose is NOT crafting), and no time needed to craft anything.
